Approval to Travel Overseas
What you should you do before traveling overseas for conferences and other matters
If you intend to go abroad for any official or personal reasons, kindly ensure that you have obtained the endorsement and approval from your Supervisor and your Dean. You will need to submit the endorsed letter to Institute of Postgraduate Studies [IPS] who will then channel your application to the Vice Chancellor for approval.
Please download the form “VC’s Approval For Student To Oversea” from the IPS website and submit the above documents to the Student Affairs & Fellowship Unit
You are advised to plan your journey and submit the documents AT LEAST 4 months earlier to enable us to process and apply for approval from the relevant bodies. This shall help us to take the necessary actions should you go under any difficulties while being overseas.
VC’s Approval For Student To Oversea for USM-PGRS Grantees
For USM-PGRS grantees, you are required to obtain the approval from the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (R&I) to use the fund from the USM-PGRS Grants, and submit the approval letter together with the specific VC’s Approval Form to the IPS at least 4 months ahead of your journey
Please submit the documents together with:-
- a copy of Identity Card for local students; and
- a copy of Passport for International students
