GETTING TO KELANTAN AND USM KELANTAN CAMPUS
Arrival by Air
Daily flights are available to and from Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and Johor Bahru to get to Kota Bharu. Carriers providing service include AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines and Malindo Air.
USM Health Campus, Kubang Kerian is about 15-20 minutes from the airport in Pengkalan Chepa. RM 30 will be charged if taken taxi from the airport to Kubang Kerian. If the taxi taken is between 12 a.m. to 6 a.m., taxi charges will include another 50% additional night service charge, which cost RM 45.
Arrival by Rail
Train services from Kuala Lumpur to Kelantan terminate at Wakaf Bharu and Tumpat. From these two points, one can get to Kota Bharu either by taxi or bus. Stop over points en-route include Gua Musang, Kuala Krai, Tanah Merah and Pasir Mas.
Once you are in Kota Bharu, the capital city, it is relatively easy to go USM Health Campus, Kubang Kerian as regular bus and taxi services are available from the main bus terminal. Kubang Kerian is about 10-15 minutes from Kota Bharu, depending on the traffic condition.
Arrival by Road
There is an excellent network of roads linking the major towns in Peninsular Malaysia to Kelantan. From Kuala Lumpur, the overland route eastwards along the Karak Highway takes you to Kuantan in Pahang; a journey of about 3 hours. The rest of the journey from Kuantan to Kota Bharu takes about 4.5 hours. The route heads northward along the coast passing through picturesque villages and providing scenic views of the palm-fringed beaches overlooking the South China Sea. The inland route to Kota Bharu turns off the Karak Highway at Bentong and proceeds northwards to Raub and then to Gua Musang, before reaching Kota Bharu. An alternative route exits the Karak Highway at Temerloh and passes through Jerantut, Benta and Gua Musang enroute to Kota Bharu. The whole journey would take about 8 hours.
